We currently pick up recycling products at various locations within the city, including the school systems, which have recently started a recycling program. The materials are taken to the center where they are baled and then sold to recycling companies.

The Road Department has built forty-one plus bridges throughout the county. Duties of the Road Department include installing tiles, ditching, repairing roads, hauling gravel, backhoe work, trimming trees, cutting trees, chipping limbs from cut trees, mowing road right ways, cold patching, grading, hauling salt, grading snow from roads, replacing road signs, picking up trash from right ways, maintaining the road equipment and many others. In addition, several times throughout the year they are called out in the night and on weekends for snow removal and storm damage.

Joey White (270) 384-5701 – Office (270) 384-1036 The Adair County Regional Jail and The Adair County Restricted Custody Facility houses prisoners for the county and the state. The jail services all law enforcement agencies in Adair County. This includes the Sheriff’s Office, the City of Columbia Police, and the Kentucky State Police. The jail consists of two buildings. The main jail which houses the majority of our inmates and a Restricted Custody Building which houses inmates that classified for our work program. Some of the services that we provide are county road cleanup, county park maintenance, county animal shelter, trash pickup crews, workers for state and county road departments, City of Columbia utilities and City of Columbia garbage workers, plus others. We have 19 full time employees, and 8 part time employees in addition to the Jailer. Main Jail Visitation Hours: County females: Wednesday & Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. County males: Wednesday 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. & Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. State Inmate males: Wednesday 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m & Sunday 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Inmate Services:

VINE
The system is linked with VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) which scans the jail booking computers every ten minutes and will notify victims registered in the VINE System of an inmate’s release. The VINE System also prepares monthly billing of state inmates and a monthly report. Social Security benefits are stopped to inmates that are in jail for 30 days or more. By calling 1-800-511-1670 information on an inmate in the state prison system or the county jail system can be obtained. The caller, after registering with VINE System can be notified of an inmate’s release. The VINE System scans the jail computer every ten minutes.
